The American is a superhero and the main character of the comic book series The American.
Origin[]
The American was a patriotic superhero but was also secretly a series of highly-trained soldiers, many of whom died. A conspiracy was created to make the public believe that these men were all the same, unkillable man. The final American, upon realizing the truth, decided to no longer be a government stooge and fight for his own beliefs and values.
Biography[]
Rather than being a single individual "The American" was actually a series of individuals. Though to the public, The American is a powerful and long-lived superhero, the identity was shared by a series of highly trained American soldier.
