Andromeda is a superhero in the DC Universe. She is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes and a relative of Mon-El.

Andromeda's original costume
Laurel Gand was a young Daxamite girl who lost her family when her homeworld of Daxam was invaded by the violent Khunds. Trained by her mother to operate weapons, Laurel was able to activate a defensive satellite that blew up the invading Khund ships. Fearing the Khunds would retaliate against her, Laurel’s uncle Eltro Gand sent her to Earth to live in an orphanage under the alias Leala Linder. She lived there for two years before she was recruited by Saturn Girl to join the Legion of Super-Heroes as Andromeda. Andromeda was exposed to lead on her first mission (an element that is highly toxic to Daxamites), and ,despite taking lead immunity serum, became deathly ill. Brainiac 5 was able to synthesize a new serum when he found that Andromeda had built up a tolerance to the original. After he cured her, Brainiac 5 and Andromeda developed feelings for one another.

Laurel as Sister Andromeda
Andromeda is a Daxamite, and like Kryptonians, has amazing powers under the light of a yellow sun. Andromeda is superhumanly strong and fast, and can fly. She is also invulnerable, but can be harmed by lead. She has super-hearing and telescopic vision, can see in the dark with infrared vision, see through solid objects with x-ray vision, and see radio waves and the auras of living creatures with electromagnetic spectrum vision. Andromeda possesses "flash vision", the power to fire beams of burning energy from her eyes, similar to Superman's heat vision, except flash vision also has a concussive force element to it.
