Ariel is a superheroine in the Marvel Universe and a member of the X-Men.

Origin[]

Ariel was an alien initially sent to collect mutant DNA to help her species when she met the Fallen Angels, a group of mutant thieves, and allied herself with them.

History[]

Ariel was a alien from a planet known as Coconut Grove, a world whose culture mimicked that of the night club scene on Earth. As no more mutants were being born on her world, Ariel was sent to Earth to bring mutants back to Coconut Grove so that their DNA could be studied. But when she returned Ariel was captured along with the Earth mutants, as she was identified as having a limited telepathic mutant power. She helped the mutants escape and fled with them back to Earth. Ariel decided to stay on Earth and became a member of the X-Men.

Powers[]

Ariel has a mutant telepathic power that allows her to influence people and persuade them to do what she wants. By focusing her power she can even make people forget events or believe lies.

Ariel can teleport by warping space between two closed doors and temporarily linking them once the door is opened, allowing her to to step through a door and emerge from any other door she chooses. This power is possessed by most inhabitants of Coconut Grove. However, when Ariel teleported and the door she was walking through was destroyed, she was trapped between two points in space-time in a flaming sub-space realm. She was saved when her mutant powers evolved her teleporting ability and allowed her to escape. This evolution of Ariel's powers gives her the ability to create door-shaped energy portals that she can use to teleport, removing her dependency on physical doors.
