Beppo, the Super Monkey, is a monkey superhero in the DC Universe and childhood friend to Superman when he was a young child.

Origin[edit | edit source]

Beppo was a monkey-like creature who stowed away on Superman's rocket to Earth when he was a baby and gained super-powers on Earth.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Beppo was a Kryptonian animal very similar to the monkeys of Earth.  He was used as a test animal by the scientist Jor-El to test an interplanetary rocket he was planning to use to help his son escape from his dying planet.  When the rocket was finally launched, Beppo stowed away on board, which eventually reached the planet Earth.

After landing on Earth, Beppo disappeared and wasn't seen until sometime later by Jor-El's son and superhero Superboy and his adoptive family, the Kents.  When the Kents discovered Beppo, they saw his powers and took him in.  However, the monkey proved to be a relentless mischief maker to the point where Superboy was forced to trick him into returning to space to keep him from stirring up trouble.
