The Blackbirdis the specially designed jet used by the superheroes The X-Men in the Marvel Universe.
History[]
The X-Men's initial mode of transportation was the Stratojet, which ended up destroyed when the team battled the villain Count Nefaria. Eventually, it was replaced by a more powerful and technologically advanced jet known as the Blackbird. For many years, it was used at the X-Men's primary method of transportation. After the X-Men were presumed dead in Dallas, Texas, former team member Nightcrawler broke in to where the vehicle was held and took it to England to be used by the team he was currently on, Excalibur.
Upgraded[]
Following his time with the space pirate team the Starjammers, Prof. Xavier returned to Earth to lead a new team of X-Men consisting of members old and new. To help them, he had team ally Forge develop a new, even more advanced Blackbird utilizing technology of the alien Shi'ar Empire, whom the team had encountered some time prior. Upgrades included the ability to turn invisible and utilizing mutant tracking technology from Xavier's mutant detecting machine Cerebro.
