The Copperhead (Bob Wayne) is a superhero who appears in the Republic Pictures film serial Mysterious Doctor Satan in which he battles the title villain.

The son of a crime-fighting outlaw of the old west, Bob Wayne takes his father role after his adoptive father, Governor Bronson, is murdered by the villain Doctor Satan.
Biography[]
Bob Wayne was born to his father (known only as Smith), who, in the past, was a cowpuncher in an Arizona cattleranch. Smith become best friends with Bronson, another man who lived and was raised on the same cattle ranch but when Smith was accused of riding with a "wild bunch", he quit the ranch. Smith then began a series of raids on criminals under the name The Copperhead, called so due to his chainmail mask (which looked like a serpent's face) and his tendency to leave behind small copper snake figurines as a calling card. Smith died a few months after Bob Wayne was born and his mother the following winter and Bob was entrusted to Bronson, who had already left Arizona.
