Dazzler is a superheroine in the Marvel Universe, a world famous musician and a former member of the X-Men.

Origin

Alison Blaire was a talented young girl who dreamed of being a musician, but was ostracized when her mutant powers manifested at a concert.  Afterwards, she dedicated her life to music, but also lead a double life as the crime fighting Dazzler.

Biography

Childhood

Alison Blaire was born in the suburb Gardendale, New York (Long Island) to Carter Blaire (a serious-minded law student and Katherine Blaire (a free-spirited entertainer).  Eventually differences between the two parents lead to Katherine running off, leaving Alison to be raised by her father and her grandmother, Bella Blaire.  Carter didn't tell Alison about her mother, as he felt shame about it.  As Alison grew up, she expressed interest in becoming a performer, which her father, now a judge, disapproved of.  Instead, Carter forced his daughter is focus her attention on academics, though her grandmother was more sympathetic and nursed the young girl's burgeoning creativity.

During a middle school dance, Alison's mutant power to turn sound into light manifested, resulting in her creating a light show that temporarily blinded everyone in attendence.
