Donatello is the scientifically-adept member of the superhero team the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Origin[]
Donatello started out as one of four pet turtles accidentally dropped in the sewer and exposed to a radioactive mutagen, which mutated him into half-human/half-turtle a creature. He was raised with his brothers in the ways of the ninja by a mutated rat named Splinter who was also transformed in the same accident and taught to fight for those in need.
Biography[]
When four pet turtles fell into a sewer and were contaminated with radioactive ooze, they began to mutate. The four turtles turned into humanoid beings and were taken in by Splinter, a rat who also was mutated by the radioactive materials. Splinter trained them in the martial arts and raised them like both a father and a martial arts sensei, naming them all after his favorite Renaissance artists: Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Raphael and Donatello. As he grew older, Donatello gained an affinity for machines and computers.
Eventually, the Turtles ran afoul the Shredder, their mentor's oldest enemy. The Turtles battled him and they were able to overcome the Shredder, who died when Donatello knocked him and a grenade he was threatening to use off a roof. Later, the Turtles helped a former lab assistant, April O'Neil, defeat her old boss, who was plotting to ransom the city with dangerous robots called Mousers. Soon after, April proved to be one of the only human friends the Turtles had and a trusted ally. Following the adventures with the Mousers, the Turtles discovered their home destroyed and Splinter missing, and the Turtles ended up living with April as they tried to find their missing master.
Eventually, they discovered that Splinter was being kept at a mysterious corporation TCRI, which was run by brain-like aliens in human disguises.
