Earth-311 is an alternate reality in the Marvel Multiverse in the year 1602 created by a time travelling Steve Rogers in an effort to prevent a horrible future.

History[]

The history of the universe as a tangent universe began when the superhero Captain America traveled back in time from a terrible future where the supervillain the Purple Man became the president of the United States.  He ended up in America before the Roanoke colony was founded and lived among the native people there under the name Rohjaz.  With this appearance, Rogers started a strange change of events in a timeline once identical to his own, creating an alternate universe. It seemed not only to effect from the moment he arrived by retroactively, including the presence of dinosaurs in the human age, which seemed to have never been extinct. The alternate universe became the form of a jewel, which was one of many kept and watched by the alien entity known as Uatu the Watcher.

The effects of the appearance of Rogers in this new time, this world contained many figures who were analogous to the heroes and villains who existed in Rogers home timeline. It is theorized by the Watcher that the universe needed to create the "future" heroes in the then-present to defend the world. In the year, 1602, the leader of the nation of Latveria, Count Otto von Doom, made plans to take over the world, challenging England, Scotland and the Catholic Church. Doom's minions had her assassinated (a year sooner than her counterpart in the pre-altered timeline), allowing James IV to ascend to the throne.

Around this time, the Roanoke Colony of America declared it's independence from the British colonies, which would result in a number of super-powered individuals fleeing persecution to the colonies. Around this time were a series of inexplicable storms (with no rain and blood red skies) and natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, lizards raining from the skies), which were symptoms of the reality of that realm being destabilized.
