Captain Spider (Flash Thompson) is a superhero in the Marvel Multiverse and originally appeared in an issue of the comic book series What If?, which posits alternate narratives in Marvel Comics' stories.
Origin[]
In an alternate dimension, Flash Thompson is accidentally bitten by the radioactive spider, thus accidentally taking on the powers that created Spider-Man. The story is relayed by Uatu The Watcher.
Biography[]
Flash Thomson is a hot-headed high school athlete who is bitten by an irradiated spider after pushing Peter Parker out of the way during a lab experiment. After leaving the science lab with two girls, a speeding car threatens to hit the group. After discovering the strength to stop a car from hitting him and his companions, Flash accidentally kills a wrestler named Crusher Hogan in a wrestling match while testing his strength. Fleeing from prosecution for manslaughter, Flash creates a costume and becomes a superhero named Captain Spider. Peter Parker watches the exploits of Captain Spider with envy.
In his crime-fighting career, Captain Spider defeats Chameleon, The Tinkerer, as well as stopping many other crimes. Peter Parker follows the media reporting Captain Spider's exploits with envy. In a battle with The Vulture, Captain Spider falls to the ground from a great height and dies of his injuries. Peter Parker, who has been trailing Captain Spider, removes the mask to reveal that Flash Thompson as Captain Spider.
Powers[]
Captain Spider has the ability to cling to walls, superhuman strength, a sixth sense ("spider-sense") that alerts him to danger, perfect balance and equilibrium, as well as superhuman speed and agility.

Flash Thompson is an accomplished high school sports athlete.
Notes[]
Flash Thompson never develops the web shooting devices known to Spider-Man. This ultimately leads to the demise of Captain Spider.
