Jor-El is the father of Superman. He died in the fatal explosion of Krypton, which Superman was spared. Jor-El was the wife of Lara, who also died in the disaster.
Origin[]
A member of the Kryptonian race, Jor-El became a prominent scientist and the first to learn the future fate of Krypton.
Biography[]
Golden Age (Earth-Two)[]
The history of Jor-El is not entirely clear save that he was a member of the Science Council on Krypton. At some point he married the woman known as Lara (also referred to as Lora after the establishment of the multiverse) and the two had a child named Kal-El.
Other Media[]
Appears in Super Friends, Superman, animated series, Lois & Clark, Superboy, Superman movies and in the video game Mortal Kombat vs DC, Jor-El appears in the fortress of solitude in two ways, the first in reference to the Superman film is an image of his head in a huge crystal and the other is a statue of him and Lara holding a globe that represents the planet Krypton (as is the franchise tradition).
