The Monolith is a crime-fighting golem who appeared in the short-lived comic series The Monolith.

Origin[]

When a criminal named Peter asks a few too many questions about a firebombed textile factory, he is killed.  His blood is used to create a golem to fight the mobsters, who also emulates Peter's nature.

Biography[]

In the 1920s, a woman named Alice was struggling to get by during the depression.  She worked in a textile factory until it was firebombed by gangsters.  Alice's friend Peter, who had mafia connections, confronted his superiors in the mafia about the attack and was killed as a result.  Wanting Peter's death not to be in vain, she and her friends Han and Rabbi Rava decide to create a golem using Peter's blood and ancient secrets that Rava had become privy to.  When the golem was complete, it was brought to life with Peter's own personality, though not his memories.  The creature, later known as the Monolith, is then sent to hunt down and kill Peter's murderer, which it did. However, the Monolith soon begins hunting other criminals, with the same lethal approach regardless of the degree of the perpetrator's crimes.  Believing their creation out of control, Alice, Han and Rava sealed the Monolith in an old bootlegger tunnel under the house they live in.

Decades later, she was discovered by Alice's granddaughter, also named Alice.
