Firebird (Bonita Juarez) is a superheroine in the Marvel Universe and has been a member of the Avengers.
History[]
Social worker Bonita Juarez had been taking a hiking in the New Mexican desert when a meteorite comprised of extra-dimensional cold fire struck the ground near her. Bonita was irradiated by the alien energies of the meteorite and gained pyrokinetic powers. Believing the powers were a gift from the firebird of Native American legend, Bonita created a costume and began to use her powers to protect the innocent as Firebird.

Firebird has the power of pyrokinesis, a power that lets her psionically control and manipulate fire and heat as well allowing her to psychokinetically accelerate the atoms inside an object until it builds up heat and bursts into flame. She can psychically excite the air molecules around her hands into a plasma state and project streams of burning energy. Firebird can user her pyrokinesis to superheat the air under an object, creating a powerful thermal updraft that will lift it into the air. She initially used her thermal updrafts to glide through the air, but later learned that by surrounding herself in an aura of flames and then focusing the flames downward in a tightly compresses stream, that she could fly at high-speeds. When Firebird uses her powers at their highest level, the she is surrounded by a blazing aura of white-hot flames that take the shape of a bird (it is theorized that due to the psychokinetic nature of her powers that Firebird unconsciously shapes the flames into their bird-like form)
Firebird is immune to almost all forms of radiation and poison. She can also survive in the vacuum and cold of deep space without a spacesuit and has been theorized to be immortal.
