Grant Ward is a villain in the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  The character later appeared as part of the Marvel Multiverse.

Grant Ward is portrayed by Brett Dalton.

Origin[]

Bullied by a family member at a young age, Grant Ward was ripe for being targeted by the terrorist organization HYDRA and eventually became one of their top operatives, becoming a sleeper agent within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization.

Biography[]

Grant Douglas Ward was born to an unnamed mother and father in Massachusetts in 1983.  As a boy, he lived what would seem to be a blessed life with in a wealthy household, but was subject to abuse by an extremely sadistic older brother.  Eventually, he was pushed to the brink and as a teenager attempted to burn down the family's house, which resulted in him getting arrested and put into juvenile detention.  Grant was later freed by a man named John Garrett, who trained him as a protege to become a top agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., a global peacekeeping organization.  Garrett later revealed that S.H.I.E.L.D. was secretly controlled by HYDRA, an organization that attempted to conquer the world during World War II and Garrett wanted Ward to join him, promising him that he would help create a powerful and just world order.  Grant agreed and joined Garrett in his mission to help HYDRA conquer the world.

Grant earned his place both as a top ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and a trusted HYDRA operative.
