Alan Scott was a superhero in the DC Universe and the Green Lantern of Earth 2.
Origin[]
Alan Scott was a media mogul who devoted his company's coverage to superheroes. While on a train trip Alan proposed to his boyfriend Sam, but the the train crashed and Sam was killed. Alan was saved from death by the Green, an embodiment of Earth's elemental life force. The Green turned the engagement ring Alan was going to give Sam into a conduit of its power and he became the Green Lantern. Green Lantern learned that the Green had an evil counterpart, the embodiment of death itself called the Grey, and it has chosen Solomon Grundy to be its villainous avatar. Vowing to protect people from the forces of death, as he was unable to do for his beloved Sam, Green Lantern became a champion for life.

Green Lantern can tap into the energy of the Green, and manifest solid objects out of green fire. He can also fly and sense the life force of the Earth.
