Havok (Alex Summers) is a superhero in the Marvel Universe, a member of the Unity Squad, the X-Men and X-Factor and is the brother of Cyclops.
Biography[]
Alex Summers was born to Major Christopher Summers (a US Air Force test pilot) and Katherine Ann Summers with his older brother Scott. One day Christopher took his family for a flight when the plane began to crash. With only one parachute, Katherine made the decision to put it on Scott and put Alex in his arms. The boys were pushed out of the plane, and Scott deployed the chute, getting Alex and himself to safety. When the parachute caught fire from the plane’s falling cinders, Scott used his mutant optic blasts for the first time to slow their fall, but Scott severely injured his head upon landing. The boys were found, and were placed in an orphanage run by Mister Sinister. Sinister was very interested in Scott’s DNA and kept Scott for further study. Sinister placed Alex with an adoptive family as he felt Alex didn’t have the same genetic potential and reasoned that Scott would be more emotionally vulnerable if he was separated from his brother.

Havok's earlier costume
However, when Alex's powers emerged, generating blasts of plasma, Sinister took note, believing he had potential to be more powerful than his brother but lacked control. This occurred when Havok used his powers to kill the murderer of his foster parent's biological son.
Alex would live a normal life with his adoptive family until he graduated college. At his graduation, Alex was attacked by the Living Monolith, who wanted to make use of Alex’s dormant mutant powers. Alex’s powers were triggered and he was saved by his brother, who was now the X-Man known as Cyclops. Alex would eventually join the X-Men as Havok.
Powers[]
Havok constantly absorbs ambient cosmic radiation and converts it into superheated explosive plasma, which he releases from his body in concentric waves. Initially Havok had to wear a containment suit to control his powers, but over time he developed the skill to control them on his own. Havok’s control over his plasma waves has gotten so precise that he can reduce their intensity to the point that the waves would just make a person sick with a severe headache, or increase them to the point they can hit reinforced steel with enough force to shatter it and simultaneously enough heat to melt it.
