Hawkeye (Clint Barton) is a superhero in the Marvel Universe, a former villain and a long-time member of the Avengers.

Origin[]

A young circus performer, trained by The Swordsman, Clint Barton became an extremely skilled marksman - keen to show off his skills and show up the “fool” heroes in costumes, Clint was convinced to prove his skill against the superheroes Iron Man by the spy Black Widow. Eventually, after realizing he was being used, he decided to use his skills for good and joined the Avengers along with also recently reformed Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

Biography[]

Youth[]

Hawkeye

Hawkeye’s first costume

Clinton Barton was born to Harold and Edith Barton in Waverly, Iowa, where he grew up helping in his father's butcher's shop with his brother, Barney. Their father was horribly abusive, often beating the two boys, leading to Barney training his younger brother to fight for himself, as well as improving the muscles in his dominant arm and his ability to aim. Clint Barton and his brother Barney were orphaned at an early age when their parents died in a car accident. The boys were sent to various foster homes, which they would often run away from. Eventually, the two boys joined a traveling circus as roustabouts and even learned about sword-fighting and archery from two performers named the Swordsman and Trick Shot.  Some time later, Clint discovered the Swordsman was embezzling money from the circus and before he could alert the authorities, the Swordsman beat Clint up, left him for dead and escaped.  Eventually, Clint became an incredibly skilled archer and sword fighter and used his skills to become a professional performer.

Hawkeye, the Marksman[]

Years later, Clint was performing at Coney Island when Iron Man showed up to avert a disaster.  Jealous of Iron Man's popularity, Clinton decided to create his own superhero identity as "Hawkeye" in order to fight crime and become famous.  However, in his first attempt at fighting crime, the police mistook him for a criminal and he soon found himself on the run. By chance, he met the Black Widow, a spy that Iron Man had tangled with before, and decided to use Hawkeye as a partner.

Abilities and Equipment[]

Hawkeye has uncanny accuracy with a bow-and-arrow, able to make seemingly impossible shots with ease. He has a variety of different arrows which all have different powers such as explosive arrows and many more.

His most famous weapon is his bow and arrow, which he is incredibly skilled with.

Media[]

Appears in Avengers United They Stand, Iron Man Armored Adventures, Avengers EMH, Super Hero Squad SHow, Avengers Assemble, Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the episode of the cartoon Avengers Assemble, a mess happening when the ant man was present involved the Hawkeye becoming giant for a while. Alluding to the identity of Goliath.
