Iceman is a superhero in the Ultimate Marvel Universe and a member of the X-Men. He is based on the Iceman of the Marvel Universe.

A teenage mutant facing persecution, Robert "Bobby" Drake was given sanctuary by mutant activist Charles Xavier and trained to become one of his X-Men.

Not much is said of Robert "Bobby" Drake's childhood, though it is known he lived a regular childhood with his parents (whose names are left unsaid).  When he reached puberty, he discovered that he was a mutant with the powers to both become and control ice, as well as the ability to lower temperatures.

When Drake was 15 years old, he learned that the government has been creating giant robots called Sentinels for the purpose of finding and killing mutants. Fearing for his family's safety, Bobby ran away from home. Unbeknownst to Bobby, he was discovered by Professor Charles Xavier, a mutants rights activist who was sending his team of heroes, the X-Men, to retrieve him.

Just as the Sentinels found Bobby and began to attack, he was defended by the X-Men.  It was then that Bobby used his ice powers to both stop a Sentinel and safe the bystanders from the damage of the battle.  Though the X-Men praised him, many human bystanders rallied against him and he went off to join the X-Men.
