The Inferior Five is a superhero team in the DC Universe  made up of well-meaning, misfit superheroes.

Origin[edit | edit source]

The children of the beloved superhero team The Freedom Brigade, the Inferior Five formed to continue their work, despite their bizarre quirks.

History[edit | edit source]

The Freedom Brigade was once a superhero team made of some of the greatest heroes of all time.  Over time, many of the members married and had children of their own.  Eventually, the heroes retired and the children of those heroes formed their own superhero team in their parents place.  Unfortunately, despite the characters good intentions, each one had quirks made fighting crime for them more difficult.

The team consisted of Awkwardman (who was physically powerful but had poor coordination), the White Feather (a skilled by cowardly archer), Dumb Bunny (a woman who could turn super strong at the cost of her intelligence), the Blimp (a man with the power to fly but was also slow and obese) and Merryman, the leader who would prefer to be a cartoonist.  Despite this, they had various adventures and were able to help others with their own flawed style of crime fighting.  They continued until the event known as the Crisis, which rewrote the nature of reality itself and where seemingly removed from existance.

Following the Crisis, the Five ended up in Limbo, an extra-dimensional world where fictional characters who were not currently being written were trapped in until they appeared in comics again.  There, they met Animal Man, who was travelling through limbo on a quest to understand why his family was killed.  Merryman later met Superman who traveled to Limbo while on a mission to save the multiverse and Merryman also helped defend Limbo.  The Inferior Five later travelled in time to team up with the Legion of Substitute Heroes , though how they left limbo (beyond appearing in a comic book) is unrevealed.

Members[edit | edit source]

Merryman - Merryman is the team's leader and though he had no powers, he would often use his wits to help the team come up with a solution for whatever problem they face.

Dumb Bunny - Very strong female character, but also very dumb.

In other media[edit | edit source]

The group appears in a comic book based on the Batman cartoon The Brave and bold.
