Ion is a superhero in the DC Universe

Origin[]

Sodam Yat was a Daxamite who loved the stars and wanted to explore space despite his parents' xenophobic teachings. When an alien spaceship crashed on Daxam, Sodam befriended the alien pilot of the ship. However his parents discovered the alien and murdered him. Horrified, Sodam fixed the alien ship and fled Daxam. As the ship began to take off into space, Sodam received a Green Lantern Corps Power Ring. He became a Green Lantern and went to the planet Oa.

Biography[]

Sodam Yat was born on planet Daxam, the son of Diro and Cara Yat.

Before joining the Corp, his existence was prophesized by the demon Qull of the demonic group the Five Inversions. Sodam's Daxamite powers made the Guardians of Oa believe he could be their Torch-Bearer, the most powerful Green Lantern. Sodam was bonded with the Ion entity and became the new Ion, able to wield the powers of a Green Lantern without a ring.

Powers[]

Ion is a Daxamite, and like Kryptonians, has amazing powers under the light of a yellow sun. Ion is superhumanly strong and fast, and can fly. He is also invulnerable, but can be harmed by lead. He has super-hearing and telescopic vision, and can see in the dark with infrared vision, see through solid objects with x-ray vision, and see radio waves and the auras of living creatures with electromagnetic spectrum vision. Ion possesses "flash vision", the power to fire beams of burning energy from his eyes, similar to Superman's heat vision, except flash vision also has a concussive force element to it.

As a host of the Ion entity, Ion can generate the same energies as those of a Green Lantern Ring but on a much more powerful scale. He can use that energy to create solid-energy constructs with his thoughts and survive unaided in the vacuum of space. Ion can even survive being thrown into the heart of the sun due to his powers. Due to a severe case of lead poisoning which is fatal to Daxamites, Ion wears a Green Lantern Ring which acts as a life support system as to not harm the Ion entity inside him.
