Jim Gordon is the long-time commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department in the DC Universe and one ofBatman's closest friends.
Origins
He was before just one of the few uncorrupted cops in Gotham city. Then Batman communicated to him on the Joker case the joker poisoned his comissioner. So Gordon became the commissioner. then his daughter Barbara Gordon becomes Batgirl then joker shots her in the back and is parylized for 3 years but then she heals
