Jubilee (Jubilation Lee) is a teenage superhero in the Marvel Universe and was a member of the super-teams X-Men and Generation X, as well as temporarily acting as Wolverine's de facto sidekick.
Origin[]
After a young girl named Jubilee lost her parents, she began living in a mall, where she discovered she had superpowers. After being rescued by the X-Men, she joined them as a valued member.
Biography[]
Before the X-Men[]
Jubiliation Lee was born the daughter of well-to-do Chinese immigrants. A student of an exclusive high school in Beverly Hills and an excellent gymnast (it was believed she might be of Olympic-level) and rollerblader, "Jubilee" was happy to hang around in the mall with her best friends. All of this changed the day her parents were assassinated by two hitmen named Reno and Molokai while Jubilee was out with a friend. Jubilee was sent to an orphanage, but ran away to a mall, where she stole food to survive. One day, while she was nearly apprehended by mall security, she unleashed her power to project plasmoids which helped her escape. After realizing her powers, she would use them to entertain the mall's visitors for money.
Mall security, frustrated with her activities and flaunting the mall rules decided to hire a gang of mutant-hunting scientists called the M-Squad to deal with her. Though Jubilee held her own against the M-Squad, she was eventually caught until she was rescued by the X-Men Dazzler, Storm, Psylocke and Rogue who were shopping at the time. When the X-Men retreated through a dimensional portal and Jubilee, curious about the women who saved her, followed them through it.
Powers and Abilities[]
Being a mutant, Jubilee has the power to generate pyrotechnic energy plasmoids from her hands. She has referred to these blasts as "fireworks". The plasmoids obey her mental control, traveling where she directed them, arranging themselves in various shapes, and exploding when she wished. The strength of the blasts varied in degrees of power and intensity, and can range from a multitude of colorful sparkles capable of temporarily blinding a person, to a powerful detonation capable of smashing objects and destroying property, or a precision burst inside a human brain, simulating the effects of a massive stroke. Jubilee can also absorb the energy back into her own body without harm.
