Karai is a villain and an enemy (and occassional ally) of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, first appearing in the comic's City at War story arc and later appearing in several animated incarnations.
Origin[]
Karai's exact origins remain unknown.
Biography[]
Karai's past is largely unrevealed. It is known that she had a daughter, who would later become her aide within the foot, though the identity of her father's daughter is unknown. At some point, she became a top ranking official within the Foot Clan, a secret organization of ninjas based in Japan. Following the death of the Shredder, the leader of the Foot Clan in New York City, a war began within the organization. With Shredder's former Elite Guards acting out seemingly random acts of violence, Karai decided to have a truce with the Ninja Turtles in order to team up and defeat the rogue Foot Clan members.
