History[]
On the planet Krypton, scientist Jor-El created a special prototype rocket as a vehicle for escape for when the planet self-destructed. At some point in the distant future, the rocket fell to Earth and landed in Kal-El Memorial Park in Metropolis. It soon became a subject of fascination but as years went by it mystery faded and it sat neglected for many years.
In the 31st Century, the superhero team the Legion of Super-Heroes began searching for a headquarters, they chose the mystery rocket and decided to use it as their super-hero club house, in honor of their shared hero, Superboy. They met with the owner of the rocket, Mr. Piti Bornm, promising they could use it if they were capable of opening it's doors. It proved difficult but using her wits, Legion of Super-Heroes member Saturn Girl managed to solve the mystery of the rocket and open the doors. Inside, the Legion discovered that the rocket was filled with supplies for young Kal-El and a message for their child and learned it was sent shortly after Kal-El was sent in the hopes of helping him. It landed in the same spot as the rocket that transported Kal-El to Earth but was nearly a thousand years late.
The three Legion of Super-Heroes members convinced their financial sponsor R.J. Brande into buying and refurbishing the ship to act as their clubhouse.
