Lockheed is a heroic alien dragon in the Marvel Universe and is a close friend to Kitty Pryde.

Origin

An alien dragon from another world found by the superheroine Kitty Pryde, Lockheed came with her to Earth, where he became her close ally.

Biography

Lockheed's early life is something of a mystery.  He is a member of a race of dragon-like aliens who travel using "astral ships" that transport their essences across space.  He and his people, who live as collective "flocks", ended up battling the insect race known as the Brood.

Lockheed first encountered rhe superhero team known as the X-Men when they were abducted by the Brood and brought into space.  There Lockheed encountered teenage mutant Kitty Pryde and together they helped each other fight the Brood.  He returned to Earth with her, leaving his flock and his fiancée.

Kitty was initially unaware that Lockheed stowed away with her but the truth was discovered when Lockheed protected her from an alien threat. When discovered, Kitty and the X-Men welcomed Lockheed into their fold, though were unaware at the time of the depth of his intelligence, assuming it was somewhere closer to an intelligent animal.
