The Masked Retriever is the identity taken by Uniqua in the show The Backyardigans.
By day, Uniqua is just an ordinary librarian in the town of Viejo, California. But when one of the books in her library is overdue or lost, she heads down into the basement of her library, dons a black Zorro-like costume, rides a horse named Toronado, and is known as The Masked Retriever. And as her symbol, she leaves a big, black check-mark wherever she's been.

Uniqua is one of several friends who like to imagine themselves as fantastic characters, including superheroes. One such character was the Western adventurer The Masked Retriever.
