Mon-El (Lar Gand) is a superhero in the DC Universe and a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Origins[]

Valor Superman

Mon-El's costume in the 21st century

Lar Gand was an explorer from Krypton's sister planet Daxam who crashed on Earth and developed amnesia. He was found by Superman who believed Lar was a Kryptonian after Lar began displaying Kryptonian-like superpowers and looked similar to Superman. Superman named Lar Mon-El, and the two became brothers and best friends. However, when Mon-El became deathly ill after being exposed to lead. Lar regained his memories and Superman sent him to the Phantom Zone where he would remain alive in suspended animation until a cure could be found.

Lar stayed in the Phantom Zone until the Legion of Super-Heroes released him in 30th century and gave him a lead cure. Lar joined the team as Marvel Lad, and later changed his name to Valor, but then decided to go by the name Superman had given him, Mon-El.

Powers[]

M'Onel

Lar as M'Onel

Mon-El is a Daxamite, and like Kryptonians, has amazing powers under the light of a yellow sun. Mon-El is superhumanly strong and fast, and can fly. He is also invulnerable, but can be harmed by lead. He has super-hearing and telescopic vision, and can see in the dark with infrared vision, see through solid objects with x-ray vision, and see radio waves and the auras of living creatures with electromagnetic spectrum vision. Mon-El possesses "flash vision", the power to fire beams of burning energy from his eyes, similar to Superman's heat vision, except flash vision also has a concussive force element to it.
