Biography

Career

Not much has been revealed about Byron Lewis' youth and rise to power. It is known that he was a self-made millionaire from Conneticut, having made money patenting inventions designed for the aviation industry. Feeling bored with his life and inspired by the tales of the vigilante Hooded Justice, Byron used his resources to create a portable glider that allowed him to float above the city as a superhero named Mothman. Byron enjoyed this life but the nature of both the lifestyle and the nature of his costume glider, Byron was under tremendous pressure to keep in great condition to maintain his crime-fighting lifestyle. This lead to Byron becoming addicted to a number of drugs including aspirin, liniment, and morphine, and eventually became an alcoholic.

Latter Days

During World War II, both he and Hollis Mason (the Nite Owl) attempted to enlist, but both of them were classified as 4F and therefore were unfit for service. He then became a conscientious objector during this time and served as a medical aide.  Lewis would also make appearances for another hero, Dollar Bill, who would give public "pep talks" to children, though he would later be replaced by Nite Owl as Byron Lewis would be unavailable.
