Mr. Gum is a member of the superhero team the Atomics in the comic book series Madman and the Atomics and The Atomics.
Origin[]
After an encounter with an alien, criminal Jack Pomade was transformed into a mutant. Deciding to change his ways, he used his newfound elastic superpowers to fight crime as Mr. Gum.
Biography[]
Originally, Mr. Gum was Jack Pomade, a member of the Mutant Street Beatniks, a street gang of violent beatniks who mutated after an encounter with an alien. After some time, he left the Beatniks and became his own man, learning to live with the elastic body that his mutation left him. He later met Madman serving food to the homeless as part of a charity and the two worked together to help Jack learn to control his elastic flesh and turn it into a super power and brilliant scientist Dr. Boiffard created a special suit to conform to his elastic body.
At this point, Jack took on the name Mister Gum (due to his stretchy body and green skin that made him look like mint gum) and became a superhero, frequently teaming up with Madman. He eventually joined forces with the Atomics, a superhero team made of other former Street Beatniks who had been mutated.
Powers[]
After becoming mutated due to an encounter with an alien, Jack Pomade gained a number of powers, including:
Shapeshifting - Mr. Gum has the powers to control the shape of his body. He cannot change his colors and is limited by his mass.
Elasticity - In addition to changing shape, Gum's body is extremely elastic and is capable to stretching very far without breaking. Combining that with his shape shifting, he can turn himself into springs and balls to bounce around and get around easier.
Size Changing - Mr. Gum's shapeshifting and elasticity allow Mr. Gum to change his size so he can become very small and very large at will.
Super Strength - Mr. Gum can use his elasticity and size and shape changing powers to augment his strength to superhuman levels.
Skills and Abilities[]
Having been a street tough and a crime fighter, both experiences gave him valuable fighting experience. He has also proven himself quite agile.
