Multiple Man (Jamie Madrox) is a mutant superhero in the Marvel Universe and a member of the superhero team X-Factor.

Jamie Madrox was born with a mutation that caused him to multiply when struck.  Later, he learned to control this power with the help of Charles Xavier and became the superhero Multiple Man.

Jamie Madrox was born to Daniel and Joan Madrox in New Mexico near the Los Alamos research facility, where his mutation was likely stimulated by his exposure to background radiation while in the womb. When he was born, he was slapped by the doctor and, to everyone's surprise, a clone of Jamie was created. After meeting with mutant expert Charles Xavier, Daniel decided to resign and move his family to Lawrenceville, Kansas where he, along with his wife, raised Jamie. A mysterious man named Damien Tryp, who owned a company called Singularity Investigations, offered to raise the boy and told Jamie's parents that he might be a form of proto-mutant called a changeling, but they rejected his offer.

Madrox was given a special suit that would control his powers and allowed him to live a normal life until he was a teenager.
