In the year 1915, Ernest Shackleton was sent on a mission by Winston Churchill to Antarctica to find a sample of the rare metal [[vibranium]].
Namor was originally established as a hybrid of human with atlantean, but that did not explain why he has wings on his feet, and the writers ended up saying that all this time he was half mutant instead of half human.
