Pow Wow Smith is a western hero in the DC Universe. Though not a superhero per se, he has many connections with other western comic book superheroes.
Origin[]
A native in the old west looking to learn about the world of White men, Ohiyesa Smith used his fighting and hunting skills in Elkhorn to fight crime and became the sheriff of the city.
Biography[]
The background of Ohiyesa Smith is largely unknown, save that he was from a Souix tribe. As a young man, he left his tribe in Red Deer Valley to learn more about White Man's World. His expert tracking and sharpshooting abilities gained him the title of deputy sheriff of the town of Elkhorn and eventually he was promoted to sheriff. Smith only returned to Red Deer Valley rarely after that, spending most of his time in Elktown and being given the nickname "Pow Wow" Smith.
Smith eventually married Fleetfoot, a Souix woman, and was given honorary US citizenship for his peace-keeping work. Smith maintained a peerless law enforcement record but was nonetheless shunned by white society.
