Red Son (Osul-Ra) is a superhero in the DC Universe. He is the adopted son of Superman and the twin brother of Starchild.
History[]
Osul-Ra and his twin sister Otho were young orphans who lived on the planet of New Phaelosia, a planet populated by Phaelosians (a race of people descended from Kryptonians). The twins were kidnapped by Mongul and raised to be gladiators for his amusement. When Mongul tried to force the children to fight to the death, they were saved by Superman. Since the children had no family, they were adopted by Superman and his wife, Lois Lane. Like Kryptonians, Phaelosians also developed amazing powers under the light of a yellow sun, which meant that Superman's new son and daughter began displaying powers once they were brought to Earth. After being told legends about the House of Ra, the ancient Kryptonian family that the twins were descended from, Osul chose the name of the mythical Red Son and uses his powers to fight alongside his new family.
Powers[]
As a Phaelosian, Red Son possesses powers similar to those of a Kryptonian. He is superhumanly strong and fast and is able to fly. He has superhuman hearing and can hear sounds from far away or sounds that are too high or low to be heard by normal human hearing. Red Son is invulnerable to most attacks but can be hurt by Kryptonite. Red Son's Phaelosian physiology allows him to channel solar energy through his hands as blasts of red solar flames or through his eyes as beams of red photonic energy.
