Alex Murphy was a good cop who was murdered by criminals.  Having signed a contract with the Omni-Consumer Products organization, he was transformed into a cyborg cop owned by the company. with his own memories seemingly erased.
Before his transformation, Robocop was policeman Alex Murphy who was transferred to Detroit, Michigan. During his first week in Detroit, Murphy found himself confronted by armed criminals, who held him hostage while backup was sent. The thugs torture Murphy and even shoot his hand off. However, he is able to stand up, but it just leads to the rest of his arm being shot off. He is able to survive being filled with bullets and even shot in the head at point-blank range. However, at the hospital, he is declared dead. Later, the organization OCP stepped in assumed ownership of Murphy's corpse. To be continued...

Robocop is a half-man half-machine police officer who first appeared in the 1987 film Robocop.

Robocop was originally portrayed by Peter Weller in the first two Robocop films and was later portrayed by Robert John Burke (Robocop 3), Richard Eden (the Robocop TV series), Page Fletcher (the TV mini-series Robocop: Prime Directives) and Joel Kinnaman (the 2014 remake).
