Sara Pezzini is the main character in the comic series Witchblade and a superhero in the Image Universe.
Origin[]
When police officer Sara Pezzini discovers a mystical artifact that gives her incredible powers, she finds herself drawn into an ancient conflict and uses her newfound powers to protect herself and the innocent.
Biography[]
Sara Pezzini was born November 18th, 1970 in New York City. She grew up to be a homicide detective in the New York Police Department. During one assignment, she was sent to go undercover to an action held by a man named Kenneth Irons. Irons was auctioning off an item known as the Witchblade, a mysterious object that he was also trying to unlock and descern the powers of. When Sara's partner, Michael Yee, was about to be shot to death, Sara jumped in front of the bullets to save him. While near death, something about Sara drew the Witchblade to her, using its powers to heal her and giving her power to defeat her enemies. Despite her brave actions, however, Yee still died from blood loss.
Sara continued to work as a cop, but now lead a double life, as the destiny of those who weild the Witchblade is to fight supernatural threats unnoticed by the majority of mankind. She was originally partnered with a cop named Jake McCarthy, who, without Sara's knowledge, learned that Sara was moonlighting as a supernatural vigilante.
