Sentry is a superhero in the Marvel Universe and also carries within him the supervillain known as the Void.

Origin

For a long time, the Sentry was the most beloved superhero on Earth who had gained his powers through mysterious medicine. Soon, he gained powers that could make him incredibly powerful, only to learn years later that he was his own greatest enemy and had to wipe his existence from mankind's memory (including his own), until the day he was remembered once more.

Biography

Project Sentry

In 1947, Department K (a covert branch of the Canadian government) and the remaining members of Operation: Rebirth (the government project that created Captain America before losing the only man who knew the secret of the Super Soldier program) decided to work together to create Project: Sentry, a group with the goal of creating a force far greater than a super-soldier. However, over time, the project had become divided into countless sub-projects farmed out to independent contractors with minimal-to-none government oversight. One of the last men involved in the project, Professor Cornelius Worth, eventually completed Project: Sentry ten years later in a labratory in New York City.

The Sentry is Born

Very little is known about the early life of Robert Reynolds. What is known is that he was a meth addict who was desperately searching for some kind of high when he came upon Professor Cornelius laboratory. There, with his partner, he found the experimental serum that Cornelius had been working on and decided to drink it. Upon ingesting the formula, he was overwhelmed with power, so much so he destroyed his partner and a guard with his excess energy. Soon after, he demanded that Professor Cornelius provide him with more of the drug.

Soon, Robert had a seemingly limitless number of powers, including super strength, speed, flight, and photokinesis to name a few, which made Professor Cornelius nervous about the man his research had resulted in turning into a god. The minds behind Project: Sentry were able to keep Robert isolated for testing for a time, but eventually he left, crafting a superhero costume of himself and giving himself the name The Sentry.

The Age of the Sentry

After appearing in public as a superhero, the Sentry became among the most popular heroes for both his power and optimism, becoming America's foremost superheroic paragon of virtue. Over time, he became close friends with the heroes of New York, being a mentor to the young Spider-Man, an equal to Reed Richards, a defender of the outcast heroes the X-Men and even one of the few people monstrous hero the Hulk considered a friend. The Sentry also met a woman named Lindy Lee and the two fell in love and married. The Sentry also gained a sidekick, a boy named Billy Turner who became the superhero, The Scout (how exactly Billy gained powers remains unknown but it is likely that the Sentry, knowingly or unknowningly gave them to him).

As an inspired character of Superman in the Marvel Universe, he possesses flight, super strength, super speed, invulnerability, light manipulation, regeneration, healing factor, and other powers beyond human capabilities.
