Sgt. Rock is a war hero in the DC Universe and the leader of Easy Company.  Though not a superhero, he is a prominent character and an ally to many other superheroes, fighting along contemporary heroes and time travelers.

Origin[]

Frank Rock was a steel mill worker from Pittsburgh until the Pearl Harbor attacks, at which point he enlisted and soon moved up the ranks to become sergeant.

Biography[]

Youth and War Service[]

The son of John Michael Rock, Frank Rock was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was raised along with his four brother and two sisters.  When he grew up, Rock joined the army and after proving his mettle, eventually was promoted to the rank of Sargent.  He went on to lead the accomplished and skilled Easy Company to many victories throughout World War II in Europe.  He reportedly died in 1945 in the closing days of the war along with team member Bulldozer, though a General Rock appeared years later who people claimed to be the original, though was implied to be someone else.

Connections to Superheroes[]

Sgt. Rock, though not a superhero in the strictest sense, has played important roles in the lives of superheroes, just as some superheroes played important roles in his life.  As a youth, Bruce Wayne met Rock and helped him and easy company and years later as Batman, Rock returned the favour during a case.

A man who was purported to be Sgt. Rock played a role in the cabinet and administration of Lex Luthor, an infamous villain who managed to become the U.S. President for a time. He was instrumental in a battle with the villain Imperiex and took part in a suicide mission to crack the villain's armor. However, at some point after this mission and following the dissolution of one of the Suicide Squad teams, he left behind a mask of Rock's face and his seemingly wheelchair confined aide both stood up and left, seemingly never to be seen again. No explanation has ever been given save that this Rock was someone else and both Rock and his friend Bulldozer both died in 1945, near the end of the war.

Personality[]

Rock is a professional soldier through and through, well-trained and disciplined.
