Starchild (Otho-Ra) is a superheroine in the DC Universe. She is the adopted daughter of Superman and the twin sister of Red Son.

Origin

Adopted by Superman, Otho-Ra eventually joined the Superman family and used her own powers to help people as Starchild

Biography

Otho-Ra and her twin brother Osul were young orphans who lived on the planet of New Phaelosia, a planet populated by Phaelosians (a race of people descended from Kryptonians). The twins were kidnapped by Mongul and raised to be gladiators for his amusement. When Mongul tried to force the children to fight to the death, they were saved by Superman. Since the children had no family, they were adopted by Superman and his wife, Lois Lane. Like Kryptonians, Phaelosians also developed amazing powers under the light of a yellow sun, which meant that Superman's new daughter and son began displaying powers once they were brought to Earth. After being told legends about the House of Ra, the ancient Kryptonian family that the twins were descended from, Otho chose the name of the mythical Starchild and uses her powers to fight alongside her new family.

Powers

As a Phaelosian, Starchild possesses powers similar to those of a Kryptonian. She is superhumanly strong and fast and is able to fly. She has x-ray vision and can see through solid objects that aren’t made of lead. Starchild is invulnerable to most attacks but can be hurt by Kryptonite. Starchild's Phaelosian physiology allows her to channel solar energy through her hands as blasts of blue solar flames or through her eyes as beams of blue photonic energy.
