Stormwatch is the name of several superhero teams who have appeared in the Image, WildStorm and DC Universes.

Origin[]

Stormwatch was created and sanctioned by the United Nations to use superheroes to fight against world-threatening forces.

History[]

Wildstorm Universe[]

When a powerful psychic named Despot went insane, high-ranking government official Henry Bendix convinced the United Nations to form a special team of superhuman soldiers to help prevent similar crises, replacing the defense team Warguard.  After three years, Stormwatch was formed, as well as their orbiting base, Skywatch. The original superhumans recruited were Battalion, Nautika, Sunburst and Flashpoint and were trained by the superhero known as Backlash.  Backlash had in fact been asked to spy on Stormwatch for his former taskmaster Miles Craven but instead Backlash confessed to Bendix and showed his intent to support Stormwatch fully. Bendix agreed and allowed him to join the team.

DC Universe[]

In the New 52 incarnation, Stormwatch is an organization that began in the Dark Ages as the Demon Knights and has protected earth from alien threats commanded by the Shadow Cabinet, a four-member group of Shadow Lords. The team consisted of Jack Hawksmoor, Apollo, Midnighter, Jenny Quantum, The Engineer, Martian Manhunter, Adam One (Merlin), the Projectionist, and Harry Tanner, the Eminence of Blades.
