OriginEdit

BiographyEdit

Early LifeEdit

Roberto da Costa was born in Rio de Janero to millionaire Emmanuel de Costa and his wife, archaeologist Nina de Costa.  Roberto would lead a rather ordinary, if luxurious life, until the age of fourteen when his mutant power activated during a championship soccer match for his school that he was playing in.  During a fight, da Costa's skin color turned completely back and he hurled another player away with superhuman strength.  When he realized what he had done, Roberto pleaded for help, but everyone else was panicked and most had fled the arena.  Fortunately one person, Roberto's girlfriend Juliana Sandoval, stuck with him in that situation, allowing him to cope with his strange new condition.

The New MutantsEdit

Roberto and his power drew the attention of the evil roboticist and member of the Hellfire Club (specifically, it's Inner Circle) Donald Pierce, who was planning to murder any superpowered mutants he could locate.  Pierce's men attempted to capture Roberto and when they could not they kidnapped Julianna instead.

Professor Xavier, mutant rights activist and mentor of the X-Men learned of this turn of events and had his friend Dr. Moira MacTaggart and two young mutants Psyche and Karma arrived on the scene to help him.  Roberto intended to meet with Pierce so that Juliana would be freed but Pierce tried to kill them both.  Juliana sacrificed her life to save Roberto by stepping in front of a mercenaries bullet and Roberto vowed revenge on Pierce.  Bobby joined Professor X and Karma, as well as Wolfsbane, a mutant capable of turning into a wolf, and together they defeated Pierce.
