Cir-El is Supergirl, a superhero in the DC Universe and the genetically engineered daughter of Superman.
Origin[]
Cir-El (also known as Mia Kent) was the genetically engineered daughter of Superman and Lois Lane in the future, created by grafting Superman's DNA onto human genetic material.
Biography[]
Cir-El was developed by the organization known as the Futuresmiths as a genetically engineered mix of Lois Lane and Superman.
She was created to be the perfect Trojan horse for a world-conquering virus, as Superman would never suspect his own child. She was sent back in time, unaware of the virus inside her, to meet her parents and earn their trust. She became the new Supergirl and became a hero under her father's tutelage. However, Supergirl was just as noble as her parents and when the virus began to spread, she traveled into the timestream and erased herself from history, preventing the virus from ever being released.
Powers[]
Supergirl is a Kryptonian/human hybrid with the following abilities.
- Superhuman strength - Supergirl is almost as strong as her father, and can lift several tons with no apparent strain
- Superhuman speed - Supergirl can run at speeds that exceed the speed of sound
- Superhuman hearing - Supergirl can hear sounds from far away or sounds that are too high or low for a normal human to hear
- Invulnerability - Supergirl is resistant to damage, the only things that can truly hurt her are Kryptonite radiation and magic
- Infrared vision - Supergirl can see in the infrared wavelength and perceive the world around her in terms of heat
- Flight - Supergirl initially could only leap 1/8th of a mile, but as her powers grew she found that she could levitate and hover in mid-air, and then finally evolved into true flight
- Red Sunbursts - Supergirl can fire explosive blasts of red solar radiation (the very wavelength of sunlight that Kryptonians lose their powers under).
