Superman is a superhero in the DC Universe's Earth 2.
Origin[]
Kryptonian Val-Zod was saved from his planet's destruction by Jor-L and sent to Earth alongside Kara-L and Kal-L but his ship went off course. When he finally appeared on Earth, he was recruited to use his superpowers to help stop a brainwashed Superman.
Biography[]
Val-Zod was the child of criminals on Krypton. When his parents were captured and executed, Val was taken in by Jor-L and Lara and became friends with their niece Kara Zor-L and their infant son Kal-L. When Krypton was going to explode, Jor-L put all three children in escape rockets. Kal's rocket made it safely to Earth but Kara and Val's ships were knocked off course. Val's ship's stasis field was damaged so Val was aware of being trapped in the small ship for years. When Val's ship arrived on Earth, Val was now young man with crippling agoraphobia. He was taken in by Terry Sloan and eventually trained in the use of his powers. When Superman died, Val-Zod overcame his fears and became the new Superman of Earth-2.
