Uberman is a character in a sketch from the TV comedy series Saturday Night Live and appeared only once in the episode "Michael Palin/The Doobie Brothers" in a sketch that imagines what would have happened if Superman grew up in Nazi Germany.

Uberman is played by Dan Ackroyd.

Origin

When the planet Krypton was dying, two aliens sent their son to the planet Earth, where he was raised by Nazis.  When he grew up, he discovered he had super-powers, which he used to fight for the Fuhrer as Uberman.

Biography

The character is presented as a hypothetical scenario on a speculative history TV show called "What If..." While Superman grew up in the USA with loving parents that taught him values that exemplified the best of America, Uberman grew up in Nazi Germany, raised to believe in the values of Hitler and the Third Reich.  He was found in the Black Forest by his surrogate parents was raised as Klaus Kent to believe that "the fatherland was stabbed in the back in Versailles, how Jews are parasites and how Germany will one day bring order to the world and don't ever leave those Volkswagons by the bumper, they'll ride off in your hands". He also grew to discover that he had powers far beyond mortal men, which he learned more about from a holographic message from his father (as well as a message of not eating junkfood). He used his powers and became an Olympic athlete, defeating Jesse Owens in the 1936 Olympic games.

He later decided to fight for the fatherland as Germany's champion Uberman who fights for "Untruth, Injustice and the Nazi Way".  He eventually took up a career as a mild-mannered clerk for the ministry of propaganda, working with Lois Lanehoff and Jimmy Olsteyn, acting as a bumbling oaf to avoid suspicion of his true identity.  As Uberman, Klaus was able to both save Hitler from a bomb and reveal Jimmy Olsteyn as a Jew, taking him off to prision.  Soon Hitler contemplated that with Uberman the war could be won, and soon Uberman takes Stalingrad in five minutes, rounds up 2 million Jews and kills everyone in England.

At the end of the dramatization, the host claims things look grim, but a military general suggests that Uberman would eventually succumb to a Kryptonite bomb and a comic book expert speculated that the now empty England would become the new Jewish holyland.

Personality

Like the original Superman, Uberman disguises a much more confident hero under the guise of the nebbish Klaus Kent.  However, his values are those of the Nazi Party, including facsism and racial purity, making him a force for evil.

Powers

Though not all of his powers were revealed, it can be assumed that he has all of the powers of Superman.  Powers demonstrated or alluded to include

Super Speed - Though not explicited stated as his power, it is remarked that he was able to defeat Jessie Owens in the 1936 Olypmics, implying that he used his powers to do so.

X-Ray Vision - Uberman is seen demonstrating the ability to see through solid matter to discover a bomb.

Weaknesses

Like the original Superman, Uberman is vulnerable to Krypton, one of the few substances capable of killing him.
