The Ultimates are the name of a superhero team in the Marvel Universe. Though the team's name originates from a team in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, they are unrelated.
Origin[]
Fearing outside intergalactic threats to Earth, Captain Marvel suggested a task force to travel to space and defuse such high-level dangers, preferably through peaceful methods.
History[]
With Earth often under siege from alien forces or facing the fallout of cosmic-level events, the superhero Captain Marvel decided to create a special team to deal with cosmic crises, preferably peacefully if possible. With the help of superhero and king of Wakanda Black Panther, she was directed to the skilled but often unnoticed superhero Blue Marvel whom she recruited for the new team. The final recruits included Spectrum, a powerful hero with a keen strategic mind, and Ms. America, a hero with great cosmic knowledge.
Their first mission involved them trying to find a solution for the hunger of the cosmic entity Galactus, a devourer of worlds and one of the most powerful entities in creation. To do this, they repurposed his old incubator, the device he used to survive the crucible of the dying of the previous universe that birthed him. Trapping him inside, he was transformed, spared his endless hunger and now capable of giving life to worlds.
Afterward, the team decided to investigate the damage to the timeline caused by constant alterations.
