Wakanda is a fictional country in the continent of Africa, ruled by the king Black Panther and sometimes Storm in Marvel Universe.

History[]

Ancient Past[]

Wakanda is an isolated African nation. Prior to human habitation, Wakanda (long before it was named) was home to various species of being known as the Originators. They included mystical creatures such as the serpentine Simbi, the simian Vanyan, the arachnoid Anansi and the insectoid Creeping Doom. Some unknown, perhaps mystical force called humans to this land and they lived peacefully among the beasts for some time. However, when humans began to abuse the land, a war broke out between the humans and the Originators which was ended by the Orisha, humans who became the Gods of Wakanda, when they banished the Originators to the Nether-Realms, dimensions outside of the known world.

The Meteor[]

This small African country has the largest deposits of Wakandan Vibranium in the world in an area referred to as the Great Mound. This originated when 10,000 years ago, within the era that would become Wakanda was struck by a large meteorite containing an unusual mineral capable of absorbing sound and energy. One of the tribes was lead by Bashenga who chose to investigate the crash and deemed the material he found there to be a gift of the gods.

The Wakandan royal line began with Bashenga, an ancient Wakandan. Bashenga was supposedly the first king of unified Wakanda, and the first Black Panther some 10,000 years ago. The radiation left behind the meteor affected the flora and fauna, creating mutations such as a mysterious heart-shaped plant eaten by the early Black Panthers and turned various ape tribes into albino apes. Those who would consume the flesh of the apes would gain great strength, leading to the rise in a White Ape cult.

Ancient Wakandan Duchy of Adowa[]

Some time later, the Adowa was a duchy in Wakanda was established and prospered with skilled hunters and craftsmen.  Other tribes became jealous of the Adowa and later on a group came to the Adowa, demanding tribute and believing them to be rich but weak.  However, they found themselves completely repeled by the Adowa's unusual tactics, leaving enemies unable to locate their wealth and goods and unable to successfully attack the farms of the Adowa.

Later, T'Chaka, the Black Panther (a title for the king of Wakanda) and a descendant of Bashenga became king of Wakanda. Knowing that others would attempt to manipulate and dominate Wakanda for this rare and valuable resource, T'Chaka concealed his country from the outside world. He sold off minute amounts of the valuable vibranium while surreptitiously sending the country's best scholars to study abroad, consequently turning Wakanda into one of the world's most technologically advanced nations. Eventually, however, the explorer Ulysses Klaw found his way to Wakanda, and lied about his true intent; creating a vibranium-powered, sound-based weapon. When Klaw's true intent was discovered, he murdered T'Chaka and many others in his vacinity, only to be stopped by T'Chaka's teenage son T'Challa, who turned Klaw's own weapon back on him.

Other Notable Events[]

In the village of Nri, for reasons unknown, the people of the village grew wings and could fly, eventually getting them targeted by slavers. The Mighty House of Adofo was founded by Oronde, who became a king from the border region of Alkama.

Other Media[]

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes[]

They both worked together for 2 reasons: Man-Ape was promised the throne with help of Klaw and Klaw was promised vibranium which is one of the strongests metals in Marvel Universe. When Man-Ape led Klaw to the vibranium stash, Klaw called HYDRA to pick up the vibranium in return Klaw would help him get the throne (to get the throne the would be king has to duel the king). Man-Ape challenged T'Challa's (Black Panther's dad who was the Black Panther back then to a duel). Normally the dad (T'Chaka) would've won but Klaw helped in this since the Panther senses are heightened, Klaw took out a box that did a high pitched noise that only Black Panther could hear. The noise greatly hurt T'Chaka and was tired so Man-Ape killed him on that moment. Hell-bent on getting revenge T'Challa took his father's suit and he became the Black Panther, went to U.S to seek help from the Avengers. He spyed on the Avengers for weeks then fought them all and won then asked for their help, they decided to help. In the end the Avengers helped T'Challa be ruler of Wakanda and Black Panther joined the Avengers.

Iron Man: Armored Adventures[]

It quickly appeared in the final episodes when the black panther was leaving Wakanda to help the characters against the invasion.

Monarchs[]

Current Monarch: Black Panther/T'Challa (King) and Storm/Ororo (Queen)

Religions[]

Panther Cult[]

After the vibranium meteor fell, a number of Wakandans were painfully mutated into demon spirits and began attacking their fellow Wakandans. T'Challa's ancestor, Bashenga became the first Black Panther and closed the vibranium mound to outsiders, forming a religious cult that guarded the mound and fought to keep the "demon spirits" from spreading across the kingdom.

The Black Panther is a ceremonial and religious title given to the chief of the Panther Tribe of the fictional African nation of Wakanda. In addition to ruling the country, he is also chief of its various tribes (collectively referred to as the Wakandas). The Panther uniform is a symbol of office as well as a religious vestment.

As part of the cult's ceremonies, A chosen Black Panther is entitled to the use of a heart-shaped herb that grants the person who consumes it enhanced strength, agility, and perception (similar to Captain America's super soldier serum).

White Gorilla Cult[]

Ghekre the Gorilla God is an ancient Wakandan deity.[7] Wakanda evolved from a hunter-warrior society, and was traditionally ruled by its greatest warrior. The dominant Black Panther Cult outlawed the rival White Gorilla Cult's worship in Wakanda. M'Baku (Man-Ape) of the Jabari tribe is one of Wakanda's greatest warriors, second only to T'Challa, the Black Panther himself. While T'Challa, king of Wakanda, is on a several month leave of absence from Wakanda, the ambitious M'Baku plots to usurp the throne. M'Baku flouts T'Challa's edicts and revives the White Gorilla Cult, killing one of the rare white gorillas living in the jungles near Wakanda. M'Baku bathes in the gorilla's blood and eats its flesh which "mystically" confers the gorilla's great strength upon M'Baku. He tries to defeat T'Challa in combat, hoping to take over the country, but is beaten and banished from Wakanda.

Lion Cult[]

Sekhmet the Lion Goddess could possess the form of any human worshipers or the bodies of those sanctified and sacrificed by its worshipers, it transformed these subjects into human avatars of itself. He has a number of other powers, some of which she has demonstrated. Sekhmet could grow in size, move at rapid speeds, teleport itself and others, and alter its specific density. The Lion goddess possessed superhuman strength and durability, and it was immortal. It can manipulate the minds of the weak willed.

Little is known of the history of the Lion Goddess. She had apparently lost many worshipers over the years to the Cult of the Panther God Bast, despite the fact that Sekhmet physically manifested before its followers, and the Panther God only appears to its priests.
